The Rise of ADHD And Other Distraction Based Disorders

The increase in children with ADHD has been astonishing. Over the past two decades the number of children in a typical primary school class of 30 children who have ADHD and are taking medication for it has risen dramatically. You can bet that at least 10% are taking medication and possibly another 10% have been diagnosed with some level of it. At one point the amount of children being diagnosed with ADHD seemed like it was the majority of kids.

Truth be told, this probably is not that incorrect. Our society is filled with so many things to distract us that the chart which is used as a guideline to diagnose it fit almost everyone, adult and child alike. Our world is filled with so many things that we should have done yesterday that we cannot help but have some variation of ADHD.

Look at the differences in our morning routines since the dawn of the wireless internet and cellphones. Previously we would take a moment to stretch and get the kinks out of the back. Wander into the kitchen, half-awake. We would grab a drink, leisurely go out and pick up the morning paper on the front step which we would then casually read the events of yesterday over some light breakfast.

Western Medical Technology and Eastern Medicine

More often in our western society today we are turning east for medical solutions. Neurofeedback is part of that trend as we look beyond body chemistry to manage disorders and diseases and their accompanying symptoms.

In the eastern meditation this has been in active use for many thousands of years. Recorded history is full of it, especially in religion of eastern cultures.

Samadhi, a meditative practice used in Hinduism and Buddhism is to help control the activities of the mind and trains you to focus your mental abilities. Trying to calm the mind down so that it can focus on very specific tasks like physical sensations such as breathing or posture control is a major part of this practice. Once you have achieved a level of control you would then utilize that learnt skill to improve your daily life in so many ways.

Controlling what you think is the first step to controlling your words and deeds. The ability to focus on what you really want to for as long as you want to is invaluable. In today's society there is so much to distract us that we have a hard time concentrating on any one thing for more then a moment. The rise of ADHD as a major issue in our children is testament to that.

We know that the body can repair itself and the mind can heal. That has been shown to us time and time again with the placebo effect. Although there are slight differences in that reasoning the basic theory holds true. We can achieve what we believe.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment

The military and their health professionals are making it public that they are standing behind a post dramatic stress disorder treatment for the soldiers returning from combat zones.

For years the military would not even admit that the soldiers were suffering from anything that was "real". The symptoms that they were experiencing was made up by the soldiers so that they would qualify for benefits afforded to other soldiers who were physically injured in the line of duty. The military rarely gave any sort of benefits to any list of psychological disorders that were brought on by the stress or conditions that they were subject to while serving in zones.

They still are not giving any veteran health benefits to soldiers that were exposed to a variety of chemicals and materials that made them sick years afterwards like depleted uranium exposure.

So the military admitting to a treatment for Post dramatic stress disorder brought on by situations that they experienced during duty in combat zones is a real step forward. The treatment of choice for chemical exposure, whiplash, concussion and other brain injuries is neurofeedback.

Natural and Holistic Medical Neurofeedback Treatment and ADD

Just over 80 years ago a German psychiatrist, Hans Berger, discovered that when he applied small electrodes to his patient's heads that a tiny flowing current was recorded.

Neurofeedback since then has been successful in treating stress and stress related disorders & diseases, attention deficit disorder (add / adhd), anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue and Autism.

Neurofeedback can also treat most mental illnesses or behavioral issues without the use of a drug in the treatment plan.

Neurofeedback treatment is painless and many patients feel a difference after the first session.  Neurofeedback actively trains the brain  to function in a certain way so the effects will not wear off.

Learning How to Be A Better Leader

Being better at something is what we all strive to do on a daily basis. We are constantly looking for ways to do things better and faster while utilizing less resources like time and money. This is natural and why as a society we are driven to evolve. We build planes to go further faster, we construct materials to use less of the earth's resources and we find ways to make our lives more convenient. We strive to live better in every way. We want to pack more of life's incredible experiences into the few hours each day we have.

In the healthcare field today we spend so much time trying to resolve or reduce the negative symptoms that we rarely spend time to actually improve our health. Sure we have all sorts of things to physically improve our body but the amount of time spent on optimizing our brain functionality is minimal.

There are many pharmaceutical pills, vitamins, minerals and other substances that we are using now to tweak our body's functioning but all those are very hit and miss solutions. Many of them come with side effects that actually damage our body over a long term.
